Healthy Citizens

For centuries, politics have controlled the most important decisions for countries and their citizens. In a time when the world seems to be in a state of disarray for many countries, now is a very important time to have an informed and educated political view.  Whether or not you are a person whose day-to-day routine deals directly with politics, it affects the world you live in. Winston Churchill once said, “Healthy citizens are the greatest asset any country can have.” This quote is as applicable today as it was in 1943.

The quote has multiple meanings, so let us dissect its premise from two similar, yet different views: the first being the physical heath of any countries’ citizens, and two being the mental health of its citizens. To further this quote, let us now directly associate it with the world by rephrasing: healthy citizens are the greatest assets the world can have. Now assume for the relevance of the discussion that this “healthiness” refers to both physical and mental well being as mentioned above. Imagine a system that connected us all, with relevant information of current happenings—a system that allows its consumers to sustain the health of their minds, both political and otherwise.

This system being referred to exists and it is the Internet. It is time we embrace the Internet for its ability to assist all of our betterment. The Daily Steak is putting its efforts into creating a space for a more healthy society, by giving the individual the tools to do so themselves.  We are developing a system that sheds new light on politics, new creations, new ideals, and in part healthy citizens. An informed society on all levels can help to better not just our county, but also our world.
